Sam Balcomb is one of Rainfall’s co-founders, spearheading its live action production, visual effects, and advertising divisions. As a director, he’s helmed the company’s wide-ranging and award-winning shorts, trailers and commercials. In the post world he oversees VFX, motion graphics, and design for feature films and television, ranging from independent productions to studio tentpoles.

After graduating from Art Center College of Design’s acclaimed film program in 2002, Sam began work on commercials and music videos for Nelly, Amerie, Stevie Wonder, Celine Dion, and many more. His editorial and design work led to becoming Lead VFX Supervisor at Burbank-based L2 Digital.

Sam has designed and filmed national network spots for ABC Studios and IGN, music videos, television specials, and creative videos, including Rainfall’s Legend of Zelda trailer, Wonder Woman concept, and Metroid: The Sky Calls. His fantasy short Evenveil won several awards, including the Burbank Intl Film Festival, LAFA, Vegas, and was featured on Short of the Week. These videos have collectively accumulated over 25 million YouTube views, been covered in the trades, and featured on Good Morning America, The Today Show, Rolling Stone, and Entertainment Weekly.
