APRIL 1, 2017: As we hit that auspicious first day of April, we mark the 9th anniversary of Rainfall Film’s formation. Another amazing year has passed in the blink of an eye, filled with fun and challenging projects with collaborators old and new.
Over a full year has passed since we moved into new office spaces on the second floor of our Studio City headquarters. In September, an initiative to upgrade our computer horsepower began, with new systems acquired, offering a significant boost to our workstations and render farm. The upgrade became an absolute necessity with an onslaught of new work in the fall and winter months.
Speaking of, this last year has been noteworthy for a strong push into feature films, providing visual effects, graphic design, titlecards, credits, and advertising for many theatrical releases. Rainfall has recently worked on Arrival, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, Transformers: The Last Knight, CHiPs, Dave Chappelle’s Netflix specials, Inferno, Patriot’s Day, Underworld: Blood Wars, and more.
The projects have run a wide gamut of variety and challenge. Over one thousand visual effects deliverables were created for Joe Lynch’s new film, Mayhem, which recently had its world premiere at SXSW 2017. Graphic design, sound design and music composition were provided for the indie game Fictorum, after a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign. Motion graphic animations were provided for several large-format billboard campaigns (including Times Square & LA Live), most recently Apple’s new show Carpool Karaoke. Rainfall co-owner Jesse Soff joined the editorial team for Discovery Channel’s Naked and Afraid XL.
Our audio division, Runsilent, had it’s most successful year to date, providing custom music and sound effects through partner-company Alibi Music Library, for a massive amount of advertising, including films and shows such as: Justice League, Overwatch, Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Suicide Squad, Kong: Skull Island, Stranger Things, and Doctor Strange.
This year promises to continue and build on the momentum. Our current projects, and those on the horizon, have us incredibly excited. In addition, several recent equipment investments have been made in preparation for more original production, which we will announce in the coming months. As always, we are immensely appreciative of our clients, our fans, and everyone who has supported us over these nine years.
Thank you for being on this adventure with us.
